Searching for solution to manage my health records

By: Anny

Managing health records can be a daunting task, especially when you have multiple family members with various medical issues. As a blogger who cares about my own health and my family members' wellbeing, I know this pain point firsthand. My parents, John and Amy, are both in their 70s and have multiple medical issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

It's difficult to see my dad, the once strong and independent man I looked up to, become so stubborn and forgetful in his old age. He has always been a fiercely independent person, so it's no surprise that he's reluctant to go to the doctor or follow a strict medication regimen.

However, his stubbornness has led to some scary situations. There was one time when he had a particularly bad bout of high blood pressure, and he refused to go to the doctor until my mom and I had to practically force him. It was a wake-up call for all of us, and we realized that we needed to do something to make sure he was taking care of himself.

On the other hand, my mom's forgetfulness can be just as worrisome. I've lost count of how many times she's missed an important health recommendation or appointment because it slipped her mind. It's not that she doesn't care about her health, but she has so much on her plate that sometimes things slip through the cracks. As their daughter, I feel responsible for making sure they both stay on top of their health, but it can be overwhelming at times.

There have been moments when I feel like I'm drowning in medical records, test results, and medication schedules. It's like a never-ending game of whack-a-mole, where I'm constantly trying to keep up with their health issues while juggling my own responsibilities. But I can't afford to drop the ball - their health is at stake, and I know I need to stay on top of things.

One real-life scenario and it was a terrifying moment when my dad was rushed to the hospital for a medical emergency. I was already stressed, worried about his health, and praying that everything would be okay. But my worry quickly turned into frustration when I realized that I didn't have access to his medical records. I remember standing there in the hospital, feeling helpless and frustrated. I couldn't answer any of the doctor's questions about my dad's medical history. I didn't know what medications he was taking or what his previous test results were. It was a nightmare.

I called my dad's previous healthcare provider to request his medical records, but they told me that it would take time to process the request. Time was something we didn't have. I had to rely on my memory to provide the doctors with some information, but it wasn't enough. The delay in obtaining my dad's medical records not only caused unnecessary stress, but it also delayed his treatment. It was a frustrating and heartbreaking moment for both of us. I vowed to never let this happen again.

It's a lot of pressure to be the primary caregiver for my parents, especially when their health issues are so complex. But I love them both dearly, and I know that I have to do everything in my power to help them stay healthy and happy.

My own personal experience with managing my health records began when I contracted COVID-19. Suddenly, I had to juggle multiple doctor appointments, medications, and swab tests. It was overwhelming, to say the least. It was challenging to keep track of all my medical records, and I knew I needed a solution to help me manage my own health records and my family members' medical records.

I'm the type of person who strives for perfection, but with so many medical issues to keep track of, I often feel like I'm falling short. There have been several occasions where I've forgotten to record a medication or missed an important health recommendation. These oversights can have serious consequences, including health complications, hospitalizations, and increased medical costs.

That's when I began researching medical record apps. I was looking for an app that could manage all of my medical records in one place and allowed me to create separate profiles for myself and my family members, so I could keep track of all of our medical records easily. I also wanted an app that provided features such as alerts and reminders, to help me stay on track with my health goals.

When searching for a medical record app, I looked for one that allowed me to easily add medical information, such as doctor remarks and test results. This was especially helpful for my parents, who were both dealing with their own medical issues. With the app, I could keep track of their medical information, medications, and diagnosis results, which made it easier to manage their care and communicate with their healthcare providers.

Overall, using a medical record app has been a game-changer for me and my family. It has made managing our health records much more manageable and less stressful. I highly recommend exploring a medical record app if you're struggling to manage your own health records or your family members' medical records. It may be just the solution you've been looking for. And in my next round of blogging, I will share more details about my user journey, including some funny stories about my dad's experience with the app.
